What happens to your lists

Privacy notice · Updated September 6, 2026

List Reconcile checks the presence and frequency of values in two lists. It can read entire CSV rows so that a difference still has its original context. This notice follows those actions: opening a file, comparing it, inspecting a result, and taking a report away. It also explains the web requests needed to load the site, which are separate from your comparison data.

Opening a file does not send it to us

When you paste text or choose a TXT, CSV, or TSV file, the application reads its contents on your device. It does not send the contents, filename, column labels, selected values, or comparison results to a server. Your list data is not used to train a model or build a shared dataset. The comparison does not call an AI service.

Choosing an ID column does not discard the other columns. The tool keeps the complete parsed records in the current page so that View rows and the Excel or JSON report can show their context. If those other columns contain information you do not need to review or export, remove them from a copy of the source file before loading it.

Where the working copy lives

The application holds the current inputs and results in browser memory. It does not write them to application cookies, local storage, IndexedDB, or an online account. Large inputs may appear as a shortened text preview, while the complete input remains available to the comparison in memory. A shorter preview is not a deletion of the records beyond it.

Clear removes a side from the current comparison; Clear both resets both sides and their results. Reloading the page discards the application's working comparison. These controls are not secure-erasure tools for your device. Browser session restoration, extensions, operating-system memory, clipboard history, and device backups are outside this application's control.

There is no server-side list history for us to retrieve, correct, or delete. If you close the page without downloading a report, support cannot recover that work for you. Keep your original files when you need to repeat a comparison.

Copying and downloading create your own copies

Copy values places comparison keys on your system clipboard when your browser allows it. If automatic copying is unavailable, a text box lets you copy them manually. Clipboard managers or device synchronization may retain those values independently of this page. Clearing the lists does not clear your system clipboard.

Downloads are generated on your device. A CSV report contains summary values, counts, source line references, and the source filenames with their selected columns and format settings. Excel and JSON reports also include associated original records. The current filter and search determine which results are included, across all result pages. Check that selection before sharing a report with someone else.

A downloaded file stays in the location you choose until you remove it. If your Downloads folder is synchronized or backed up, that service may make additional copies under its own settings. List Reconcile cannot recall a file after you save or forward it, or remove data from another person's copy.

What the example-sharing link contains

The example-sharing controls point to one of three fixed fictional examples. The example ID in the link chooses which sample to load. It does not place your current lists, search text, selected columns, or result in the URL. Sharing that link cannot let a recipient reopen your private comparison. To share actual results, you would have to choose to send a downloaded report or copied values yourself.

Requests that still reach the hosting service

Your browser contacts Cloudflare to load the pages, styles, scripts, and export code. Those ordinary requests expose network and request information, such as an IP address, requested page, browser headers, and request time, to the hosting service. Hosting may produce traffic or security records even though comparison contents are not uploaded. This notice does not promise that visiting the site is anonymous.

Cloudflare describes its own handling of service and network information in its privacy policy. We do not specify a retention period for records controlled by Cloudflare. The application has no separate database of uploaded lists and no list-content logging endpoint.

Visit measurement and your choice

We use Google Analytics to understand visits to the tool and its guides. Google receives page addresses without their query strings or fragments, page titles, a referring site's origin, and ordinary browser and network information. Lists, uploaded filenames, selected columns, search text, and comparison results are excluded. We do not enable advertising, session replay, form tracking, or automatic download tracking.

Before you choose, and when you select No analytics cookies, the Google tag sends limited visit measurements without setting analytics cookies. If you select Allow analytics cookies, Google can use analytics identifiers to measure visits across pages. Advertising permissions remain off. See Google's explanation of these measurement states and privacy policy for its handling of the information.

We save only your analytics choice in local storage so it can apply on your next visit. Use Analytics choices in the footer to change it. Turning analytics cookies off removes this site's accessible Google Analytics cookies and limits subsequent measurement; it does not delete information already received by Google. Clearing browser storage resets the choice. These controls never store or erase your comparison inputs.

Support messages and outside links

If you choose to email the contact address shown on this site, your email provider and the support mailbox process that message. We receive the sender address and whatever text or attachments you include. That is a separate, voluntary disclosure from opening a file in the tool. Send fictional examples when possible; a few representative rows usually explain a parsing or counting problem.

We use support messages to investigate the issue and reply. You can request correction or deletion of correspondence through the same contact address. We cannot delete a report saved on your device, and we cannot locate a private comparison on our server because the application never uploaded it. We have not set an automatic deletion schedule for support correspondence.

Links to Microsoft, Reddit, or other documentation open a different website. Reading those pages is optional, and their operators apply their own data practices. This notice covers List Reconcile's behavior. The date above changes when we revise that behavior or its explanation.
